Q: keyboard backlight and screen brightness problem

During a car ride i was watching a movie on my 2012 macbook pro and i decided to turn off the features that automatically adjust the screen brightness and keyboard backlight according to low light. After i turned them both back on i noticed that both my keyboard and screen brightness aren't reacting to the light setting at all... anybody now what's wrong??

maybe restarting your macbook or doing a smc reset might do it for you...
