I keep getting a 'To view this page, you must log in to area “Restricted” on staging.examiner.com:80' in Safari..

Hi,

Earlier I went to the page examiner.com to read a news article. Now, everytime I try to load up ANY webpage in Safari 6.0, I get the following

"To view this page, you must log in to area “Restricted” on staging.examiner.com:80."

It has basically rendered Safari completely useless. I tried to Reset Safari, erasing all settings, but this **** dialog box will not go. As you can see from the image, the dialog box pops up regardless of which website I am trying to look at. I am running ML on 2010 MBAir. I am suprised that using the 'Reset Safari' option could not take care of the problem. Firefox runs fine (which is how I am setting up this Discussion).

Please help.

Surprisingly, using a proxy server did not solve my problem. Was on hold with singtel for the past hour as well. Not sure whats the point of calling them, they have a recorded message saying they are aware of the issue and their engineers are working on it. Somehow i have the image of a single dude in some back office sweating over this...

On a side note, rather surprised to see how many people are not using their firewalls. 😮

Here is the steps to create the firewall rule with Terminal.

You will need to type in your Mac login pasword once you hit enter.

Make sure the "65535 allow ip from any to any" statement is there.

After creating the rules, enable firewall by going to System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Click on padlock > Enter password > Turn on Firewall.
