Updating iTunes Podcast Feeds to a new domain (Creator)

I've successfully update my audio only podcast - by adding the:

<itunes:new-feed-url>NEW URL FOR YOUR FEED</itunes:new-feed-url>

field to the old .XML file...

I was also able to submit the new location for the .XML to iTunes...

Everything seems to have updated fine. I'm just waiting for the new podcast feed to be approved.

HOWEVER...

When I tried the same process for my video based podcast although the .XML was updated in iTunes. When I went to submit the second .XML file - itunes reports that this feed "It appears that this feed has already been submitted". I thought I would need to update the .XML and submit the new URLs to iTunes...

Is that not the case. Do you merely after update the .XML files alone and - wait for apple to approve them?

Mike

If a podcast is already in the Store you don't need to resubmit it for any reason - indeed you can't. You just make any changes and re-upload the feed.

To move the Store's attentions to a different feed URL you simply add the redirection tag as you describe, and upload. Subscribers will be changed to the new feed immediately: the Store will pick up the change next time it checks the feed, which usually takes 1-2 days. No further approval is required from Apple.

Ah I see... Looks like I did two tasks when I only needed to do the 1st...

I looked again and see that both podcasts have now been updated...

One thing I do notice is that where the main itunes listing has my graphic - when I subscribe that isn't appearing in iTunes... I've tried to "Get Album Artwork" - but that doesn't seem to help.

Any theories?

The image which appears when you subscribe and select an episode isn't referenced in the feed, but has to be actually embedded in the media file. Please see this page for a full explanation:
