thanks wayne, but it did not solve the issue... some fields are in "blue" text, and as i hover over it, a hand shows that i can send an email from that field, but other fields are "black" and it is simply text... drives me nuts..... any ideas?
thanks!
can you post an example of one that is NOT correct(maybe change the specific dtails so they are not real email addresses)?
Harry,
Take a close look at the email addresses and be sure that they are consistent with proper URL format. iWork does its best to detect email addresses, if you have that option enabled, but it can't guess the proper address if it doesn't come close to standard.
See Using Hyperlinks, beginning on p. 187 of the Numbers User Guide.

Users' Guidde is located here:
I bet Jerry is onto the problem. Some emal addresses are "tagged" with persons name. and look like:
test person <test@domain.com>
Numbers will not make this a linked email address until you remove the NON-email portion that make the tag.
Change it to
I copied the email addresses from emails received, and removed those <>, some work and some don't....
Really frustrating.... And don't know what to do....
Harry,
Please add a table to your post, using the advanced discussion editor, and fill a column with some of the good and bad email addresses for us to examine. We may be able to tell by looking at and testing them what your trouble is.

okay i found the advanced editor, but if i copy and paste in to this message they all turn blue... i have also tried to copy and paste in my spreadsheet but that did not work....
They all look fine to me when I paste the email addresses into a Numbers table:
Try copying the email addresses into a new table or document

Thanks. I think I see what you are reporting. As with some other types of data, they aren't formatted until they are manipulated in some way.
Selecting the text in a cell that hasn't formatted the address as a link and then hitting the Return key causes the recognition to occur here.
Like Wayne is reporting, all seem to be links, but some are not formatted in Blue with underline. But, we're working with your post which is giving us text already recognized and formatted as hyperlinks.
So, my suggestion that some may not be proper URL addresses is certainly not the case. What happens in Pages or another processor that should recognize the addresses? Do they get recognized there? If you then copy them to Numbers, are they then recognized in Numbers?
