how to input email addresses in numbers?

some are blue and i can use them to send an email, others are black and i cannot click them to send an email?

Macbook, Mac OS X (10.6)

Take a close look at the email addresses and be sure that they are consistent with proper URL format. iWork does its best to detect email addresses, if you have that option enabled, but it can't guess the proper address if it doesn't come close to standard.

Thanks. I think I see what you are reporting. As with some other types of data, they aren't formatted until they are manipulated in some way.


Selecting the text in a cell that hasn't formatted the address as a link and then hitting the Return key causes the recognition to occur here.


Like Wayne is reporting, all seem to be links, but some are not formatted in Blue with underline. But, we're working with your post which is giving us text already recognized and formatted as hyperlinks.


So, my suggestion that some may not be proper URL addresses is certainly not the case. What happens in Pages or another processor that should recognize the addresses? Do they get recognized there? If you then copy them to Numbers, are they then recognized in Numbers?
