memory says it's full but it's not

Hey everyone,

has anyone had the problem of your computer saying your memory is full, but when other diagnostics are done it can be seen that only 40 GB are used (out of 80).

I backed up my computer and the 40 GB were backed up, but the information box for my HD says memory is full.

If you have, or even haven't had this issue, does anyone have any suggestions on how i might be able to fix this?

Welcome to Apple Discussions!
If you used Carbon Copy Cloner, and the backup was not complete for any reason, it leaves behind a temporary file in the Volumes folder:

If you are not using Carbon Copy Cloner, I don't know what the solution is.
