.eml file attachments, missing.

I get a set of forwarded emails that I have to read and take action on. They are forwarded as .eml files.

I receive and can open these emails just find on my iMac desktop Mail app.

However the attachements don't even come across on my iPad3 or iPhone 4S. Nothing even to click on, they are just not there.

I have an IMAP email account that these come from so I am looking at the exact same email on all three devices at the same time. Desktop...has attachments. ios devices, no attachments.

I know there are 3rd party apps to READ .eml files on ios, but that wont be of much help if they are not even displaying on the device.

Completely frustrated that I can do this on the desktop and not on my iPad.

Any ideas?

Well...I get that, but that's only part of the issue.

The attachments are not even displaying on the iPad or iPhone. Normally, an unsupported file will come over and you click it and it says it's not supported.

.eml files don't even show up. I just tested this by sending phony .junk and .zwr attachments and the files are on the iOS device, just can't open them.

Why is this important you ask? Because as I said, there are 3rd party apps I can load to read a .eml file. But if the attachments are even getting to the devices, the app is useless.

Does that make sense?

Hi mthhurley,

Thats interesting, becasue I can see the .eml attachment on mine.

Using TextEdit I made a small text file and saved with with the .eml extension and the sent it to myself.

The iPad picked it up OK, then when attempting to open it gave me the unsupported message as I was expecting.

What email client are you using to send those messages from to the iPad?

Hi mthhurley,

Did you solve this problem???

I have the exact same issue...

I've noticed that it only happens on IMAP accounts... if I setup the same account as POP3, it works just fine (that is .eml attachements come through at the bottom of every email perfectly).

Also, if I use Windows Live accounts, they also work perfectly.

Any ideas, would be greatly appreciated

Cheers...
