Safari pdf plugin requires $60+ fee. What's up?

I can't get my bank's pdf to show in entirety because I've got to buy a $60+ fee for a plugin. Is there a work around? I'm running Mountain Lion Safari in 32 bit. 64 bit doesn't work either.

Thanks! They may be jerking my chain but it's a plug-in and it's in the way, no question. The bank statement shows in a separate window, not downloadable, and nothing shows past the first page. There's a scrollbar but it won't move. I tried saving it but the saved file won't load into Preview. But I'm offered the $60 ransom. Anything else?

Good. To be fair to SchubertIT, that is a pretty good plug-in. For a long time it was one of the more reliable ways to see PDFs on a Mac. I even had to use it recently when some bug in the OS prevented Safari from displaying embedded PDFs in a Blackboard. There is a free educational license too. Ideally, it is better to run with the built-in software, but Schubert's software has come in handy.

It is beginning to appear that just about everything that is connected with Adobe (pdf viewer & flash) has been disabled on most macs. I believe this is done on purpose by Apple.

Similar to what's happening with anything connected with Google.

Apple continues to try to control the world.

I don't even have that plug-in listed in my Library, so there's nothing to remove. Using Google Chrome does work, thank goodness.

I do have to print as .pdf file many bank and financial statements for my non-profit. It is becoming more and more difficult.

Fortunately, I still have a Windows 7 computer with which to accomplish many of these tasks that Apple is blocking. Are you listening Apple? do you care?

What are you talking about? This is pure, unadulterated BS. OS X has had built-in PDF support since 10.0. And Safari has been able to display PDFs natively in the browser since 10.3 or so.

If you are having issues with PDFs in Safari, I guarantee you that you have installed some plug-in at some point (i.e. Adobe Reader). You have cruft somewhere that is breaking stuff. Because the native PDF support with Preview and in Safari opens every PDF I've ever come across, and I do this many times a day, 365 days a year.

Safari pdf plugin requires $60+ fee. What's up?
