Looking to upgrade from Final Cut Studio v3 (FC7, Motion 4, Compressor 3.5, etc) to current Final Cut X/Motion/Compressor. Just realizing I may have a possible hardware issue - we have 2 orriginal MacPro1,1 Dual-Core Intel Xeon, 3 GHz, 4 Cores, 8 GB Mem, 1.33 MHz Bus, OS 10.6.8. Can anyone confirm this, or assure that it will run? Thanks

Thanks for the lightening response! Forgot about the graphics card issue... These are still available, @ $250 each - wonder how long this will hold these workstations over for...
GTX 570 can also work if you look around. Check ebay or MacRumors for "MacVidCards" that supplies and supports graphic card options.
One question, the Final Cut Pro X system requrements say you need: "Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo processor or better." I talked with Apple, and they weren't sure the Dual Core Intel Xeons met the requirement. If they do, looks like an ATI HD 5770 solves our problem! Can anyone confirm the Xeons will work with Final Cut Pro X?

Haha, the "genius" I spoke to at the Apple store said only the really early versions of the 2006 models had Xeons, the rest had Core 2 Duo's. He made it seem like I was basically using a G4. 🙂 It's what I get for not doing the research myself. Thanks again for the answers!
Apple trains their support people on what is currently for sale in the stores. Their knowledge of older systems is wildly variable.
If they had extra time to take a class, it would more likely be in "how to satisfy customers" than "antique computer specs".
