Aug 13, 2012 4:39 PM in response to DeltaJimiby Carolyn Samit,Try accessing those links from another browser. Very important to have another browser installed for troubleshooting.

Aug 13, 2012 5:33 PM in response to Carolyn Samitby DeltaJimi,Yeah, still nothing from Firefox or Chrome.
I'm gonna wait til the Mountain Lion update comes out. Maybe it's something with the OS X itself?
Even though I MAY need to reformat and reinstall Mountain Lion (worst case scenario), I'm going to be patient before I do this. It's only a couple links.

That's an indication there's obviously something still preventing the links from opening.

Just so you are aware, Apple is not responsible for third party anti virus software issues. Holding out for an update from Apple to fix this.. that's not going to happen.

Aug 14, 2012 4:06 AM in response to DeltaJimiby thomas_r.,Have you tried rebooting in safe mode (by holding down the shift key at startup)? This disables all third-party software that loads at startup. If the same links that have given you trouble before work fine in safe mode, then something you have installed is causing the problem. My suspicion would be that you still have components from Norton Internet Security installed, but it could easily be something else as well.

Aug 14, 2012 5:36 AM in response to thomas_r.by Daddy D,Not sure this is relevant since my problem seems somewhat different than DeltaJimi's, but I thought I would share it on the chance the information might be helpful ...
I restarted in safe mode, signed in as "admin" and had no problems.
I signed in as my normal user (still in safe mode), and the problem still exists.
I tried the exact same page in both cases.

Did you have any Norton/Symantec programs installed.
BTW, my father has Norton AntiVirus installed on his OS X Lion for a couple years and hasn't had any issues whatsoever.

Aug 14, 2012 11:43 AM in response to DeltaJimiby Daddy D,Nope. Not a one. I have never used any virus protection (other than not opening strange attachments).

Aug 14, 2012 11:49 AM in response to Daddy Dby DeltaJimi,Same problem when I go into Safe Boot.
I'm starting to think it's something on the website's end. It's a website powered by Intuit with FinanceWorks on it. I'll give them a call sometime soon.

Then the problem is somehow related to your user account, but I'm not sure where. Since you did this in safe mode, that should rule out any login items, though you may wish to weed out some of your login items, just in case you were mistaken about what mode you were in.

Yes, if you're having the same problem in safe mode, as well as when logged in as a new user, then the only option left is either a bug in the system or a bad site. Given that you're having problems with Intuit's site - run by a company with a proven track record of having no clue whatsoever about what their Mac clients want - my money would be on the site.

Aug 14, 2012 12:00 PM in response to thomas_r.by Daddy D,Pretty certain I was in safe mode: when I log in normally, I go direct to my user account. This time, I got a screen that allowed me to choose admin or user account. User account login required my password.
Login items are limited to MS AU Daemon, iTunes Helper, Synergy, Dropbox, and Logitech Control Center Daemon.
Seems somewhat bizarre that the problems DeltaJimi and I are having seem to be limited to one website. Jimi ... why don't you see if you can connect to this URL:
And please send me one of the URLs giving you trouble.

Aug 14, 2012 5:12 PM in response to DeltaJimiby DeltaJimi,Now it's working!
I drove over to my parents and connected to the Wi Fi connection here and the links work! The internet works a little faster here.
It's been since this morning when I tried to connect at my house. Under the Develop menu in Safari I clicked on "Default (Automatically Chosen)," and now it's working. I think it was clicked on "Safari 6.0" before, not sure?
Tonight when I go back home I'm going to try it there. If it doesn't work it may have something to do with the internet connection, or the website might've gotten fixed?
Daddy D,
When I connect to that URL it works fine for me.

Aug 14, 2012 9:39 PM in response to DeltaJimiby DeltaJimi,UPDATE:
In response to the my above post, I have now confirmed that the webpage links I've been trying to view work on the internet connection at my parents place, but not my place. And we both have Comcast.
Hmmmmm
Any ideas? It's an https:// website. I'm able to log in. Just can't get a couple links to open up after logging in. This is weird...
