Aperture to Picasa Web, or anything better than Flickr and Facebook?

Please oh please, can someone tell me how to upload my pictures from Aperture to Picasa Web, with captions and map locations, or any online picture site other than Facebook and Flickr? Aperture 3.3.2. I don't think it exists, so can you develop it?!

heidimayo,

there used to be an Aperture Picasa Plugin, but it has been discontinued. You still can find it on mirror sites, but the Aperture Picasa Plugin is a 32-bit plug-in. To use it, you would have to launch Aperture in 32-bit mode. This is no longer possible in Aperture3.3.x - it is 64-bit only. And as this plug-in is no longer supported by the developers, so there is no hope for an update. You can only use it till Aperture version 3.2.4.

I use Jetphoto Studio to create webs, Aperture smart webpages to create galleries, iWeb to create the home page, and upload all with ftp to the ftp-site of my web provider.

Help! kind of stuck.

i downloaded the plug in but cant's seem to put it in the right folder.

i found Go, Folder, /Library/applicastion support

but there is no Aperture there to copy and paste anything into?

Thanks, Orly

DocOrly,

You can just create folders as needed inside the /Library/Application Support folder as follows:

'Aperture' folder

'Plug-ins' folder (create this inside the 'Aperture' folder above)

'Export' folder (create this inside the 'Plug-ins' folder above)

Place the Picasa plug-in inside the 'Export' folder.

That should sort it for you. 😉

Here is the official link for removing Picasa entirely:

https://support.google.com/picasa/answer/21666?hl=en

Note - Mac OS is at the bottom of the page.

If you are going to remove the .picasa.ini files in step #4, here is a link to help you show hidden files and folders on OS X:

http://appducate.com/2013/01/how-to-show-hidden-files-folders-on-your-mac/

Note - I just use the Terminal application and commands. Log off and then back on to see the changes applied after running the command.

There may also be some other files in your ~/Library folder in the Caches or Containers folders if you are running Mountain Lion, but I am not sure on that one. If there are, then I would suggest deleting those as well if you are doing a clean re-install. 😉

Thank you CorkyO2, i tried what google suggested a few days ago and it did not work because my Application Support folder did not have the Picasa folder, not even in the Google folder. 😕

As far as the hidden files i am really not sure how to follow those directions.😕

I think it's the only time i miss a PC. I loved my "Uninstall"

Thank you, Orly

So thank you for pointing me in the right direction. i was really scared about dealing with the hidden files and when none of it worked for me before you sent me the other link i was going crazy. After you sent me the like i tried the first thing they suggested and it would not work i gave up! BUT then i tried the second thing they suggested and what do you know it worked! So THANK YOU very much!

I re-installed Picasa and it works great!

I am so glad to have my picasa up and running again. I can import photos from my Camera, delete all the ones i don't want (from the hard drive) and edit and replace the ones i did not like with Photoshop without having 3 or more version showing up in Aperture and now only the folders i want to be in aperture i can import to Aperture if and when i am ready to work on them. So very happy! 😉

I do have my more question about the subject if you know the answer that would be great. When i first installed Picasa a few months ago I had the Aperture Library and iphoto Library showing up in Picasa but now its not? Do you know how to remedy that? it's not urget but would be nice to have that option again

Thanks again, Orly.

I think Picasa scans for photos on your machine when first installed. It may be that you need to import images to initiate the libraries being shown (or use the folder manager function).

Here is Google's current instructions for iPhoto connection:

Hope that helps. 😉

Thanks! But i have tried all that. Picasa can't even find iPhoto or Aperture Library.

i think the problem is that i deleted my iPhoto Library and Aperture Library and started again when i was trying to learn how to use these programs. i got so frustrated with them that i deleted them and started a new Aperture Library which can be read by iPhoto. So now Picasa can't pick up on it even though i deleted Picasa and started fresh. It can't even pick up on it if i say "import from iPhoto" and or the tools "Folder manager".😕

OH well. At least the Plug - in is working🙂 so i can upload to Picasa albums if i need to upload anything from Aperture. And most photos are on my hard drive refrenced to Aperture so Picasa can see those.

Thanks again, Orly🙂
