File system within app

Before upgrading, I would like to understand in detail how the new file-within-app would work. What is a search like?; how do you store new files?; etc. I am accustomed to folders-within-folders and it works well for me. I have a large archive of Pages word processing documents (many of them still Appleworks cwk files that were told to open in Pages). Probably I would be happiest if this new file system is a default that can be disabled. Does anyone know of a detailed tutorial-like article on this new file system? Does anyone know if this feature can be disabled, like backwards scrolling was disable-able on Lion? Thank you. - Robert

There is no need to change anything. In so far as such a thing as "new file-within-app" it relates only to items stored in the cloud, and that's an option, not compulsory. All it means is that using the 'Open with' command is more difficult on such documents.

So, simply, don't store your Pages docs in the Cloud and you have no change.

Thanks T. Devlin. I would like to please know a bit more about your statement that "open with" being more difficult. I have two concerns: (1) All of those Appleworks files that were "told" to open in Pages so that they would not be lost in Lion...they will still "know" to open in Pages, right? That is, the "open with" change will not make them forget, right? (2) New stuff that I want to tell to Open With a non-default...just how hard is it?? For example, I often have an iphoto that I want to tell to Open With Photoshop....just how hard is it to do that with Mountain Lion?

Thank you.
