I use a lot of system tweaks, like the uxtheme.dll patch with SmoothStripesOSX, yzDock, yzToolbar, yzShadow, tweakUI to get rid of a lot of desktop crap like the recycle bin, manual registry hacks to make the recycle bin call itself 'Trash', custom high-res icons, and so on, to emulate, as closely as possible, the Aqua interface. I also have three Apple stickers layered to provide full opacity on the back of the (silver) case (of course, the apples don't glow). I even have the iChat skin on my Trillian and the Safari skin on my Firefox.

I do this partly because I like it, partly because I'm obnoxious, partly because the only reason I have a windows box is I could afford to put one together for a few hundred bucks from parts, and would rather have a Mac but can't afford one yet.

Oh, and I do this partly rebellion against Microsoft for making that atrociously ugly 'Chiclets' interface standard on XP. Aqua has style and looks like it was designed to be pretty. The XP Default theme looks like it was designed to appeal to three-year-olds. Yuck.

Ironically, (with the exception of the occasional odd Tk-based Linux app port and stuff like that), there's ONLY one application which absolutely will not take the skins, overriding any attempt at skinning with its own, and this depriving me of the pretty stoplight buttons and leaving me with only the old _ [] X buttons instead...

You guessed it.

I'm exactly like you,(and couldn't agree with you more about the fact that Mac OS X is beautiful, and Windows is so horrible, it's a joke). I have a mock: Dock, Finder, Dashboard, Aqua theme, Icons, the whole nine yards. And, like you, I would absolutely LOVE to own a mac, but I just dont have the money, when I threw my pretty sweet XP Pro laptop together for a few hundred bucks. The additions/hacks/improvements make Windows more bearable. Anyway, to your question. Download the iTunes MultiPlugin at the limk at the bottom of this post.

What it basically allows you to do is skin iTunes just as you would any other program on your fake Mac. It's what I use to make my artificial Macintosh computing experience more realistic. It also has a few other features that are pretty cool, like allowing iTunes to continue to play when its closed if you like, or to identify to other programs such as Skype that iTunes is actually Winamp, which is obviously more compatible with certain features of Windows applications. It also adds TONS of other nifty little features, (all of course fully customizable, none necessary, anyway, hence the name: MultiPlugin). So, to finish off, here is the link:

Hmm, I don't see IMs as an option in this forum. Weird.
I'm dubious about posting an email address in a publically-viewable forum, because I'm a coder and know how a spam bot could be written to easily parse out things like whateverNOSPAM@whatever.corn or something...

It's at gmail, and it's 'the Dodger' in *********** spanish, which just means I stuck an 'o' at the end of Dodger and then preceded it with an 'el' seperated by a dot.

I'm reasonably sure a script can't parse that into an email address. But then again, I don't know that a human can, either. It's worth a try. B^)

(If you figure out what I said up there, don't go posting it here as a 'Oh, so it's ...', kay? Thanks.)

i completely understand why you would not want to post your email on a public forum, i'm sorry for asking, i meant to ask exactly what you replied, id est put your email in 'code language'. and i would never post someone elses email on a public forum, so dont worry.

i'll send an email to the address that i think is correct to see if it works. if not i will inform you and we can figure it out from there.
