My MacBook Pro has died and i wont be able to afford a new one for a bit so im back on my windows desktop. I was wondering if there is a way to open the iPhoto library in windows as i backed up my photos by draging the "photos" folder on my mac to my external...

You can poke around in the lirbary and access the files, but you will not be able to add photos or see any of your projects.
Also, poking around in the library is a good way to wreck it, so back it up first.
You can right click on the iPhoto library and select show contents. Inside, all of your photos are organized by iPhoto. You can manually view them on your Windows box.
Will the EHD mount to the PC? If so drag the iPhoto library to the PC and open it. Your photos are in the masters or originals folder depending on the version of iPhoto
If you plan to use the iPhoto library on a Mac later do not modify the iPhoto library on the EHD in anyway
