You are in flashing or other territory.

You say Mac pro but you need 10.6.8 or higher. Your sig does not show what model or other details of a Mac Pro which do matter.

And tyhere are GTX 570 and up for those running 10.7.4 or ML

Good place to buy PC flashed cards:

Historically, to show a picture under Mac OS X, you needed EFI firmware on your ATI 5770 or 5870. This was only provided by the genuine Apple card. [I realize that is not the card you are talking about, bear with me.]

If you took a PC-only card and flashed EFI Firmware into it, it would produce a picture under Mac OS X, but only after its driver was loaded and fully operational (essentially at the login screen). This could make debugging and changing boot drives difficult, but some chose that path anyway.

A PC-only card would not produce a picture under Mac OS X.

You are moving into later Mac OS X, and changing rules, with a similar, but not identical card. This is a really interesting exercise, but no one can say for sure what your outcome will be. You are working in the air without a net.
