How do I get "Unlisted" YouTube videos to play on an iPhone/iPad2?

I've been trying to figure this out and tried everything I've found in the support community threads regarding this issue to no avail. When I set a video to "Unlisted" on my YouTube video manager I get an error: "The operation could not be completed" on my iPhone when clicking on the link for the Unlisted video. One thread recommended changing the syndication settings to include mobile phone. One problem with this is that you have to be a monetizing partner with YouTube to change that setting. Regardless, my video's advanced setting for Syndication is "Everywhere" (except iOS devices I guess). I've read other threads from 2010 stating it was a known bug and they hoped it would get fixed in iOS 4.2 update. Fast forward two years and...(fart noise).

Hi efent, I am seeking a simular solution. I don't have an iphone but I have an ipad. Can I ask what do you use to view youtube videos on your iphone?

I upload mostly unlisted videos to my youtube account. I noticed that I can't play youtube videos on safari and in the youtube ipad app there does not seem to be a way to paste a link into it. However, I am able to view it using chrome browser on ipad. While that works for me, the people I share the unlisted videos with don't (and won't) have chrome installed.

Thanks.

edit: actually I just tried pasting the unlisted link on safari and it played the video using quicktime instead of flash. that is a satisfactory work around for me.
