How can I batch change the icon of a certain filetype?

I'm currently transitioning my office from Windows to Mac OS X. I find that as I'm transferring excel files over to the Mac from the Windows machines, the icon that displays is the black unix icon. I have the excel 512x512 icon I want to use but I don't want to spend hours pasting the icon on 100+ xls documents. Is there an automator script or terminal command I can use to change the icon of all .xls files at one time?

Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks for reading!

Found the answer! Once you've copied your icon to your clipboard, select the files whose icon you want to change and hit cmd+option+I (without clicking any of the actual files) and in the "Get Info" window, paste the icon over the icon in the top left of the window!
