I have a Fishman Neo-D passive soundhole pickup on my acoustic guitar, and an Apogee Jam input on my MacBook (Mac OSX 10.6.8).
It sounds great with GarageBand (Version 5.1), but more like an electric guitar.
I wonder if it is possible to make it sound more like an acoustic guitar.
I tried many effects and EQ settings, without success.

It could just be the pickup. Try it with a hardware amp and see if it sounds better. Maybe you could record from the amp. Also, try turning down the recording level for the track. If it's recording at too high a level, that would cause distortion that can sound like an electric. Hope that works.
I think you're right, it could be the pickup. I previously tried with my amp, and it rendered the same sound as what I got with GarageBand.
I also tried what you suggested with rec level, without success.

Too bad, sounds like some good gear you have.
One last thing: if there's a volume control on the guitar for the pickup, lower that and see what happens. Could be there's distortion starting in the instrument.

Getting a really great acoustic sound takes good mics the right room and a lot of trial and error.
True Dat. But pickups should work reasonably well...
If you upload some raw sound somewhere (ie no effects) and link to it I'll have a quick go in garageband for you
Have you checked the battery in the Fishmans? When the battery is low or almost dead the sound from the guitar sounds overdriven... (Thats what happens on both my eletro acoustic guitars and it took me by surprise at a live gig once!)
It could also be that the input volume is too high or that the level is clipping when you play, so distorting the sound being captured by garageband...
