My Keyspan USB to Serial Adapter no long works

I upgraded recently to mountain lion and discovered today onsite with a customer that the Keyspan USB 2 serial adapter no longer works. I can start Windows XP in a virtual machine - but that is oh so painful! I imagine tripplite has to develop a compatible driver now - not sure if the OS supports it so I'm reaching out to my "friends" here on the forum. Thanks in advance for your help!

The website says it is compatable with Lion but is ambiguous when it comes to Mountain Lion:

"The driver version 2.6.b5 can also be installed under OS X Mountain Lion but we have not verified that it actually works (we assume it does, though). If you successfully use this driver with OS X Mountain Lion, please let us know.

If you see a warning during installation that the package has not been purchased from the Appstore and that the developer cannot be verified, the reason is that the package has not yet been signed by the manufacturer. You may install the package nonetheless by klicking once on the package while pressing the control key (ctrl). Then select "Open" from the context menu."

I would attempt to reinstall the driver and see if works. In my opinion, if there was Lion support, I would have to think they would provide Mountain Lion support, but then again, that's just my opinion.

I just talked to Tripplite (owns Keyspan). The driver does not support 10.8 (ML) now. They are "probably" working on it according to tech support. No known date of support is known.

My system uses two of these to control various systems. Both failed after the upgrade to ML. After fooling around with it and then downloading the new beta drivers from the Tripplite website, the installer fails as it's optimizing the system. I presume it's some sandboxing issue and developer code that prevents it from working. I've even set the security to "any developer" in security system preferences, but that doesn't appear to work.

I really like Keyspan's serial adaptors. They've worked flawlessly for years until now. I'm probably going to have to find another solution ASAP.

All,

I ran into the same problem tonight with an IOGear GUC232A adapter when I was provisioning a new MacBook Air with Mountain Lion.

After a lot of searching, and trial-and-error, I finally found a driver installer that works. Here's the link to the page:

From reading other posts, the problems we've been having may be the result of incorrectly set permissions.

And by the way, with this installer, you're not required to reboot for the driver to become active.

I recently bought a Keyspan USA-19HS, installed the drivers I've found at triplite website

Driver for USA-19HS (Mac OS X 10.6.x to 10.8.x)

rebooted and it works fine.

when connected you get with

# sudo dmesg

USA28Xdriver::init 2.6b4 Aug 12 2009 10:35:37 (whichInstance 0)

USA28Xdriver::attach (whichInstance 0 temporaryInstance 1)

USA28Xdriver::probe (whichInstance 0)

USA28Xdriver::probe vendor 6cd product 121

USA28Xdriver::detach (whichInstance 0 temporaryInstance 1)

USA28Xdriver::attach (whichInstance 0 temporaryInstance 1)

USA28Xdriver::start (whichInstance 0)

and a look into /dev shows you

Ok so this is weird.......

I have a Mackbook Pro 2013 model with ML, runs my USA-WG49 PERFECTLY.

So got a new Mac Mini today with ML, did exactly the same installation for the same cd and it does NOT work.

Damm!!!!!

Now got it working on my Macbook Air as well, but I really need to get it to work on my Mac Mini.......

Dunno what I did different.
