Since March, 2011, we haven't been able to add photos to iPhoto using any camera or sync our iPhone or iPad to our iMac. The photos in our library show up, but if I click on one, the screen goes black and I can't export them or edit photos. At around the same time we upgraded to Mountain Lion OS X version 10.6.8.
Back up your iPhoto library, depress the option and command keys, launch iPhoto and rebuild the iPhoto library
