I have an old IOP touch and need to upgrade to get some apps. I have no idea what op system and I have and cannot figure out how to get IOS 4.3 or higher. Also how do I backup my contacts from the old IOS?

Thank you for that info. I went to an Apple Store and the guy told me how to upgrade and he thought we could do it since no one told him that they couldn't. They probably just got a new one.
actually there is a way to get apps on your old ipod touch (the 4.2.1 version). All you do is on itunes you go to the app store and download any app you want andthen when you sync your ipod download the apps as well. all the apps you got from itunes will transfer to your ipod.
