After installing Mountain Lion, I tried to scan from my Canon MX870 and received the message: "MP Navigator EX quit unexpectedly. Click Reopen to open the application again. A report will be sent to Apple," This problem happened right after I installed Mountain Lion. I then downloaded Canon's upgraded software and drivers for the MX 870 and the problem was resolved. Now one month later, the problem has returned.

I don't know what's wrong with your software, but have you tried using the Image Capture utility to scan (it's part of OS X)? That's what Apple recommends to do scanning. I use it with my HP printer/scanners and it works great with ML, no issues at all.

When I upgraded to Lion when it first came out I had the same software installed and I deleted it because of compatibility issues. From that point on I have used Image Capture and now that I have installed Mountain Lion I'm going to continue using Image Capture. I'd recommend just uninstalling the software and go with Image Capture.

Thanks for the help. I didn't even know OS X had Image Capture utility -- just migrated from Windows a couple years ago. It works fine. I'm still bothered by the fact that there's a glitch even with the Canon software and drivers upgraded for OS X 10.8, but I'll take a workaround anytime. Life is too short!

Thanks for your help. I didn't know OS X had the Image Capture Utility. It worked great. I'm still puzzled that the upgraded Canon software and drivers for OS X 10.8 apparently have a bug. But this works, and I'll stay with it.

Solved problem with original Canon software. When I downloaded Canon software upgraded for OS X 10.8, I got all by Navigator Ex. Noticed that on Canon's site, the upgraded version is 3.1; my app was 2.1. Upgraded to 3.1 for Nav. Ex, and it works.

You should still use Image Capture IMHO. If it was my gear, that's what I would do. No need to worry about software upgrades.

I have a Canon MX 870 and did just install Mountain Lion. Now, MP Navigator won't work. I can scan using Image Capture, but I see no simple way to name, save and file the scan.

Can anyone help?
