Why does Apple refuse to recognize my Apple ID and password on my Iphone and when it says it sends me an email to reset, I never get said email?

I purchased an App on my Iphone using the Apple ID and password I already have from my Ipod. The app just sent me a message saying it has an update for me, but Apple won't let me in with my user name and ID. I offered to allow me to reset my password saying I would get an email, but I have not received an email at all. Is anyone minding the store at Apple?

This reply could not be more unhelpful. The password is correct. So is my user name. They work fine in the iTunes store on my computer. They also worked fine on my iPhone to purchase an APP. Today, the user name and password will not be recognized on the iPhone. They are still recognized fine on a regular computer. Who's minding the store at Apple? Apparently no one. Frustrating!

I have this exact same problem constantly. I don't know what the problem is. Absolutely every single time Apple prompts me to log in to my Apple ID after I haven't used it for a while, I have to reset my password. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. It refuses to take my old password, but will send my reset password link to my alternate account. It has gotten to the point where I keep my password (which is the appropriate combination of letters, numbers, special characters, and caps) in my dashboard sticky so I know I am not going insane when I either a. use the exact same password the next time and Apple makes me reset it again or b. copy-paste the password the next time and Apple makes me reset it again.

Seriously, what is going on to make this happen? I've had an Apple account for YEARS and it has always happened like this, but I've never really needed to use my log in until the app store and iTunes store came around.
