Q: Method 1 refuses to work, Mac keeps starting up in 64 mode

I want to install an update from Sony, that is apperently written for 32 inetad of 64 kernel machines. I won't delve deeper in this, bought a Mac not to be borhered with such things. Apple prescribes that is start up pressing the 3 and 2 numericals. Makes no difference though. Still, don't want to be a victim of the mercantile wars between Aplle and Sony, so help please!

I'm assuming this Sony component is a kernel extension, as most other things can run as 32 or 64 bits independent of how the kernel is booted.

If the above HT3773 article does not help, then maybe details about this Sony install would allow someone that has experience with it to suggest things.

Also what kind of Mac do you have?  There may be firmware issues with booting 32 bit kernel.  How much RAM, as if you have a ton of RAM (like 64GB more more) you may need to boot 64-bit kernel in order to use that much RAM.

There could be lots of reasons, but we will need to have more information about the Sony product and your Mac make/model/configuration
