can you turn off the delete app function

I frequently give my grandkids my iphone, ipod touch and ipad to play their apps. It would be great if I could temporarily turn off the capability to delete apps as one of my grandkids is 3 and she does that way to often. Is that possible now, or would this be a new feature?

iPad, iOS 5.1.1

Yes. Head to Setting -> General -> Restrictions and turn on the restriction for Deleting Apps. You'll need to set a restrictions passcode first though. Be sure to document this passcode somewhere, because if you forget it, you'll have to restore the iPod to factory settings or an older backup in iTunes that was made before the passcode was implemented.
