Time Capsule is just a router with a hard disk available to the network.. The backup software, time machine is Mac only in the computer.

To setup TC for windows access.. change the TC name to short, no spaces pure alphanumeric.. if you use wireless ditto.. eg apple uses names by default with spaces and apostrophe.. these are illegal to windows.

Please setup file sharing page of the TC, turn on guest network if possible to read and write access. Set workgroup correctly .. generally WORKGROUP.

Update the TC.

Load bonjour for windows into the PC.. or even better the whole airport utility for windows.

Open windows explorer and if the TC does not appear automagically in the address bar type

\\TCName or \\TCIPaddress (obviously replacing with the actual TC name you just gave it or its actual IP).

You will hopefully see the network resource.. directory as per naming on the Airport Utility..Data

Create a new directory under data so that you keep your windows stuff separate.

Now pick a backup software that can write to network drive.. there are about 100 Million of them. Even shudder.. MSBackup... shudder.. on XP should be able to manage it.

I do use Macrium Reflect.. free version does whole disk image.. paid version does incrementals..

There is software that does Time Machine like backups.. Genie Timeline.. it is expensive for what it is.. IMHO.

Look up via google recommended windows backup software.

Any that can write to network drive will be fine.

Also note if you are using the TC for TM backups .. mixing the data and TM can lead to issues if the disk gets near full..

You cannot partition a TC but you can create disk image that will help keep things separate.
