iMessage & FaceTime stopped working on iPod Touch.

My daughter's iPod touch had both iMessage and FaceTime working fine since she got it almost a year ago. All of a sudden, neither app allows us to get into it. It opens with the signup screen, I entered her ID and password, then click "Sign In" and it goes to the Email address we'd like to use. When I click "Next" it tries to verify, and goes nowhere, then bounces back to the first Sign In screen. We even tried opening a new email address and Apple ID for her and it still does the same thing. She has some games she really doesn't want to lose, otherwise I'd see if I could do some sort of hard wipe out/reset, but don't even know if that would work. Anyone with ideas on how I can resolve this?

My son's ipod touch just did the same thing! It is so frustrating to try to help him when you can't get any easy answers. Why is the world would it all of a sudden stop. I was Apple would help with this situation. I was going to buy an iphone as I would be able to text with my son when he gets home from school (while I'm at work). 'm not sure if I will now, considering how hard it is to get an answer and because the device did this all on it's own! ANYONE PLEASE HELP!!!!

Yes, iMessage works on the iPod Touch 4th Generation.

Go to your Settings app, scroll down and click "iCloud" If you have an account signed in, scroll to the bottom and click "Delete Account". When you click that make sure you select the option "Keep on Device".

If you aren't signed into iCloud, sign in and then turn on iMessage and see if the email sends the Validation link.

Then go to iMessage and turn it off.

Then go to the Appstore section in the settings app and sign out of your account.

Reboot your device.

Sign back into all of those things. Merge your information from iCloud.

Turn on iMessage.

Try adding the email of your Apple ID in the Message section of the Settings App. Go to "Send & Receive" to add and send new Validation Emails.

If you have no luck with this, make a new email and a new apple ID and try to send the Validation link.

You can also try Resetting all Settings in the Settings App. This WILL NOT delete anything!

1. Go to Settings App and click General.

2. Scroll to the very bottom and click Reset.

3. Click the first menu that reads: Reset All Settings.

4. Wait for your device to shut down.

5. It might restart again and go to a screen where you see a Loading Bar and Apple Logo, Just wait for that to finish, your device will reboot and begin to start completely up.

6. Sign into all your Apple Accounts.

7. Turn on iMessage and send the Validation Link.
