iPod Touch 2G Restore Stuck on "Verifying iPod restore"

So, here's the thing:

My iPod Touch (2G) was given to me by a friend. He didn't give me a charger, since he needed it for his new iPod Touch 4G he got off of eBay. He let me borrow it for a while though, and when I tried to use it, I couldn't see anything.

Then, after staring into direct light, I could barely see the lock screen. I tried unlocking it, and it worked! I tried to activate Wi-Fi, but it was greyed out.

I restored the iPod, with the same results.

I called my friend and asked him why he gave me a broken iPod Touch, and he asked me "Why do you think I got a new one?"

Time passes, I couldn't fix it. He takes back the charger, I move to another city. About 5 months pass.

Then, I buy a new charger, not an official one, but one from Radioshack. I plug it in to my laptop, and BAM! The backlight is fixed all of a sudden!

But, it didn't start up the lock screen, it sent me to a blank white screen.

I tried restoring, and guess what? It got all the way up to 99%, and stopped at "Verifyng iPod restore"

It's still going as we speak, been about 2 hours, with no changes.

Please, I really need help!

P.S. I included my previous problems to see if the have something to do with my current one.

- Try placing the iPod in Recovery Mode and then restore

- Next try DFU mode and then restore

- Try on another computer

- Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem. The appointment is free.

If I remember correctly, Recovery Mode is when you hold Power + Home for 10 seconds.

I tried that. Didn't work.

DFU is when you hold Power + Home for 10 secs. then let go Power and keep holding Home for about 5 seconds.

I tried that too. Nothing.

Sometimes though, it will actually stay stuck on "Waiting for iPod" instead of "Verifying iPod restore" which irritates me.

I tried using 2.2.1 IPSW while in DFU mode, I left the iPod overnight, and the next day, the iPod itself's progress bar was at 100%, but the iTunes said Error (9).

Also, now when I try to restore with an IPSW or iOS 2.2.1, it gives me an Error (20) every single time. Even if I'm in DFU mode.

Error 20, 21, 23, 26, 28, 29, 34, 37

These errors typically occur when security software interferes with the restore and update process. FollowTroubleshooting security software issues to resolve this issue. In rare cases, these errors may be a hardware issue. If the errors persist on another computer, the device may need service.

Okay, well, after restarting my PC for the 5th time and putting the iPod on DFU Mode, then restoring (No Shift+Click) It finally restored.

It took about 2 hours though!

And now I have yet another problem. Now it's stuck on the Apple Logo. It's only been like 5 minutes, but I'm still worried.

What do I do now?

Leave it for 10 more minutes or so then

Try:

- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iPod fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.

- If still not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

On the "iOS: Not responding or does not turn on" it says I must restore.

I just did that.

I just finished restoring, and it showed me this never ending apple logo!

I'm going to try letting the battery die and then plugging it in to my laptop.

Alright, so my battery drained. It shows the Red Battery icon thing.

When I plug it in to my laptop, it just shows the Apple Logo AGAIN, and stays that way.

When I plug it in while it's on the battery icon, it stays stuck on the battery icon, except that after a while the screen turns off, and I can just press the Lock button to see it again.
