Deleting an outlook meeting that i accepted on my iphone

Hi, i sent a recurring meeting to my gmail account today from my work PC using outlook, and accepted it on my iphone by clicking on the .ics attachement and adding it to my calendar on the iphone. But i made an error so i deleted it on the PC and asked for it to send a notification e-mail which it did. I got the deletion confirmation on my gmail account (on my iphone) but there was no red bar at the bottom of the calendar ics file attached, to make it cancel the appointment. i don't want to have this in my diary every day forever anon! i have cancelled the notification on it but wtill want rid of it

has anyone else had this trouble?

p.s. i am well versed at deleting calendar notes, so it is not a case of me not realising your press edit, then the red delete bar at the bottom, which is the only help i can find on the net
