Need help with finding globe icon on keyboard

I have the new iPad. My friend has the ipad2 and is able to send me emoticons in messages by clicking on the globe button on the keypad. I do not however see a globe button onmy keypad. How do I get access to the globe button?

iPad, iOS 5.1.1

Go to Settings > General > Keyboard > International Keyboards > Add New Keyboard and add a keyboard and the globe icon will appear.

Hi caaravance. This thread is 5 years dead. I suggest that you post a new question.

Describe exactly what you're trying to do.

Identify your device model and iOS version (lots of changes in iOS right now).

Post a screenshot, if you can. Be sure to redact any personal info.
