Power Mac G5 keeps crashing on, yet all Disk Utilities mention everything is ok

So I'm running a PowerPC G5 Dual 2 GHz, and for some reason it now will freeze dead lock on me after about 5 mintues or so.

I disconnected from the LAN that we run here at my company, and it worked fine for about 30 to 40 minutes, ran Disk Utilities on both drives, ran Verify Disk on both and both were ok, ran Verify Permissions on the drive that allowed me to and said that was ok....... Then instent I conected to the LAN we have here it went back into it's crashing. Even in safe mode it will run for 10-15 minutes or so then go back to freezing. I've tried sending the error report to Mac but I never seem to get anything out of those, can any one please help.

Do you have an Apple Hardware Test disc (the AHT is on the Install/Restore disc that came with your Mac)? Running the Apple Hardware Test in Loop Mode is an excellent troubleshooting step for finding intermittent hardware problems. It is especially useful when troubleshooting intermittent problems. If Loop Mode is supported by the version of the Apple Hardware Test you are using, you run the Extended Test in Loop Mode by pressing Control-L before starting the test. Looping On should appear in the right window. Then click the Extended Test button. The test will run continuously until a problem is found. If a problem is found, the test will cease to loop, indicating the problem it found. If the test fails, be sure to write down the exact message associated with the failure. In some cases, RAM problems did not show up until nearly 40 loops, so give it a good run.

If it crashes when you connect to the LAN, that should be the operative clue.

Believe it or not, the absolutely first thing to try is a different Ethernet cable.

Check the system.log file using Console utility to see if any oddities are showing up. Reveal the log files in /var/log in the Logs pane of Console and look at the older system.log.#.gz files. There may or may not be something of interest in the DirectoryService.server.log files in /Library/Logs.

I head in tomorrow to try and fix it a pair of questions.......

1. AHT has to be the same one as the opperating system it came with, because when I last checked for it I couldn't find one since my company seems to have lost the 10.3 disk in our recent move.

2. Where could I either download or grab a hard copy of AHT. I live in New York City would the Apple store have it, again I need it in the next say 18 hours so online order isn't an option....
