encrypted backup over network on a TimeCapsule

Hello,

I have done regular backups to my TimeCapsule on OS 10.7. As I have upgraded to 10.8 I would like to use the new option to get my backups encrypted (the encryption was not possible with 10.7 to a network drive).

But when I check the encxryption box for the TimeCapsule I seem not to have the choice to also encrypt the existing backups but rather have to start with a fresh backup and all old backups will be deleted.

Has anyone tried it yet?

Yes, if you want to use encryption you have to start over. You could go in and manually move your old Time Capsule backup to a folder you create on your Time Capsule that way you still have your old backup and still get the benefit of using encryption from now on.
