I've been trying to burn DVD's for awhile now with no success. The sense code came up while using Encore, failed to calibrate the laser power came up when I used Disk Utility, and i-DVD never finished burning but kicked out the disk anyway. I've updated to the latest version of i-DVD I can possible update to. I have a feeling I need to replace the drive, but I wondered if anyone had any advice.

Start with cleaning the Superdrive with a proprietory CD/DVD lens cleaner using tiny brushes.
If that doesn't do the trick, get an external DVD burner from Amazon. They cost as little as about $40 and work fine with iDVD.
Apple's Superdrives can be notoriously fickle!
This sounds like a great idea, but now my computer is totatly hosed. It got overheated the other night and now I can't even boot into the OS. I get this blue screen with vertical strips when I start up, then it turns red and a pop up window says I need to restart hold the power button down for several seconds. So far I can't get past this screen. I'm wondering if the motherboard is fried?
