Question

allow incoming connection to port number

I'd like to enable incoming connection to a specific port number from specific network interface. How would I do that?

I have Parallels virtual machine with host only network. Zend debugger tries to contact Mac host on port 10000 and if firewalll is on it fails. If firewall is off, it works. I know that incoming request comes on vnic1 interface and it is for port 10000, so how can I enable this connection?

I have Eclipse PDT on the other side and Eclipse is listed with "allow incoming connections" in Mac OS X firewall preferences, but it does not seem to have an effect.

Why are you using the firewall? It serves no purpose if you're behind a router.

It is a laptop and it is on different networks multiple times a day

The application firewall is not a packet filter and can't be configured to pass traffic on a specific port. It either allows or denies all incoming TCP connections and datagrams by application. There is also a packet-filtering firewall (ipfw) built in, but no GUI tools are provided to configure it. Try a third-party tool called "WaterRoof."
