Remote Automation

I am trying to share a a scanner between a OS X v10.6 and OS X v10.7. I know this isn't supported by default and I've looked into SANE/TWAIN drivers and they are not compatible with my scanner (Epson GT s50). The two computers are, however, linked over the network so files can be shared between them and what not.

I had this idea that maybe I could set up an Automation workflow that starts image capture on the OS x10.6 computer w/ the scanner connected and then dumps the files to the Automator which will then copy them across the network to the other computer. I know Automator has an Image Capture plug-in, but I don't know entirely how to use it remotely, if this is even possible. I guess my question is:

Can I use Automater to start and run Image Capture on a remote computer?
