Can't download apps

I am having the same problem... iPhone 4 IOS 5.1.1. App store says I have 19 updates. I try to update, I put in the correct Apple ID. The apps stay greyed out. It acts like it is going to update but never does. What is the problem? Thank you!

You need to be connected to wi-fi

Also, the apps might now be discontinued

If all fails, do a reset on your phone (it needs it)

There was a problem with Apple's servers, which prevented a lot of iPhone's from updating their apps. Updating them in your iTunes library first, then syncing, is a viable temporary solution.

i have the same issue with my iphone 5. very frustrating.i had this problem with my previous iphone 4 and this continued with the new phone. This is probably as i used the cloud to load all my old setting to my new phone but i do not know how to fix the problem

I am new to this and brought an iphone 4. I tried to download apps like the 'hungry jacks shake and win' and it says its ''an australian store and i have to switch into a u.s store'' i do not how to change it due to when i do , i have t oadd in my visa card and its requirements which i do not have one. I made an apple i.d 6 years ago and simply pressed 'none' for a visa, credit card etc but the problem is how do i change my i.d into an australian or u.s store please help, cant download anything !
