Q: Is it possible to salvage a Photo Booth video that was accidentally recorded on mute?

I played live music at a cafe the other night, and recorded myself with my laptop's Photo Booth. I didn't realize I had my volume turned all the way down. It recorded the visuals, but I can't hear any audio. Is the audio still there somewhere? Or, since it was muted, was the internal mic turned off completely? This video is very important to me. Please tell me I can save it...

If you had only PLAYBACK ("output") volume muted (or set very low), the sound should come back when you adjust your speaker volume and play the recording again.

However, if you muted your Mac's System Preferences... > Sound > Input, I doubt that any sound was captured.  In that case, there would be nothing to save.

If you can't make it work when settings are configured correctly, restart Mac and make a short test recording.  If the problem continues, contact Apple or an Apple-Authorized Service Provider for a professional checkup of your Mac.
