Mail sending blank messages!
Why does mail sometimes send blank messages? Should I only be composing in plain text and not rich?

You should try Plain Text to see if whoever your sending to can read them.
Its quite possible they cannot read Rich Text messages.
My Apple mail is sending partial and blank messages, though it includes my automatic singature. I'm using a POP account (host is Dreamhost and webmail works on their end)
The problem is particularly present when I am sending a FWD or a Reply... I'm not trying to send anything fancy, just text and sometimes an attached PDF or WordDoc.
It doesn't always happen but just started happening randomly on Monday (8/27). Sometims it happens when replying to an email sent from a phone—maybe this could part of an issue?
Is it always to the same person?

No, it is not always to the same person... The people who have recieved the partial emails (that I work with) are both capable of reading rich text, though I have switched over to Plain Text as a precaution.
Any other ideas, Richard?
Piles and Piles! heheheh
Diagnostics is like peeling an onion. We have to keep peeling away layers until we get to the heart of the matter.
Next question:
Are you composing a new message when this happens, or forwarding a message in your inbox?
Thanks for hangin in there with me, Richard!
It happens exclusively when I am replying or forwarding. When I've tested it, I've always done it by RE or FWD (cause that's when it's happening)
I Repaired my disk permissions today per the suggestion of a mac friend and another forum...
Okay! We've figured something out:
It is attaching the older portions of the email as ATT00427.txt (1 KB) files (or one that has a similar name) at the top. Do you know how to change this Applemail behavior?
Apple Mail is Standards Compliant. Meaning it only sends messages using internationally recognized standards.
Sadly, messages coming to you, or the people you send to, may be using a non-compliant system and that can cause problems - especially with attachments and fancy fonts or colors.
How do you test it? I would suggest you setup another mailbox - gmail for example - and forward a few things to your account there to see how it arrives.
And send yourself some messages with attachments from your test account, and reply, to see what goes back.
I found this thread https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3847839?answerId=18022711022#18022711022
Thanks, but wrong kind of blank message.
Her problem lies with the building of the message's Muti-part MIME body. Or maybe with how the original message was built. Or even with how the receiver's email client deciphers it.
Richard,
do you have any other ideas for me?
The problem occured again on two separate occaisions, this time the recipiant did not even received an email at all (though they have recieved an email from me in the past and recieved the email again when I re-sent my email). Both accounts were gmail accounts.
The occurances of this issue is so rare, yet emails are critical to the success of my work and I need help!
Thank you,
Rebecca
RebeccaCEB:
Your saying the people you sent to were both on Gmail?
What about the account you SENT from? I mean, was it Gmail? I just need to know the part after the "@" symbol - don't post the whole thing on a public web page.
As Neville asked you in the other thread (https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4256025?answerId=20174968022#20174968022) do you have any Virus software?

Version 3.6 is not fully standards compliant. It refuses to send images as proper attachments - it will only send them inline - check source and compare with eg Thunderbird.

I did not. My question was clearly directed to another person with a different problem. It is most unlikely that virus software (which should never be used on emails) has anything to do with Rebecca's problem.
