There is not list of apps that work with iOS 3.1.3. You have have to look at apps that interest you  and look at the Requirements section. It will say the device, and model of device and the required iOS.

The search functionality in the iTunes app store is useless if you want to find apps that will run on older iPhones or iPod Touch.  Do a Google search instead.  To find apps that will run on 3.1 use the following google search terms:

    site: "Requires iOS 3.1"

Be sure to type it in exactly as shown.  I get about 270,000 results when I do the search.  To narrow the results, you can add additional terms.  For example, if you only want to see the apps that have the word game and algebra in the description search for:

site: "Requires iOS 3.1" game algebra

This will narrow the results to about 68 items.

If you want to narrow it down to the free apps, it is more difficult because you can't just add the word 'free', because every page also has an advertisement for a 'free single'.  So a work around is to remove the ones with certain prices using the following search term:

    site: "Requires iOS 3.1" game algebra -"$0.99" -"$1.99" -"$2.99" -"$4.99"

Once you have found the name of the app(s) you want, you can use the iTunes App Store to download and install it on your older iPhone or iPod Touch.

If you are curious about the google search terms that are used in this search, Google offers an online course in searching, that will teach you many advanced searching techniques.  It is available at:   If you just want a list off additional search terms you can use, some of them can be found at:

"Vintapps" just appeared in the app store.  It has by far the most app infomation available for the earlier ios devices.  You can download these right to your first gen ipod touch device, tons are free.

Jim,  Is the NPR app that worked with my iPhone iOS 3.1.3 available in Vintapps 3.1.3 ?

The NPR app now in iTunes will not work in the older (3.1.3) iOS.  Thank you,  A

No.  The Apple App Store is the only place to download iOS apps.  Only the current version of an app can be downloaded from the Apple App Store.
