Q: How do I show duplicate email in Mail 6.0 (Mac OS X 10.8)

Under Mail in Lion, there was a link in the top right corner when I had duplicate email.

Under Mountain Lion, that information is no longer there.

This is a problem for me as I archive email for auditing purposes... Finder will not allow me to drag/copy an email that has a duplicate to a Finder window leaving me unable to copy this email.

Thoughts?  Experiences?

Same for me - I can't see duplicates

I have copies of a special email with attachment I use as a workaround to delete sent attachments, but in the mountain Lion upgrade I have lost the ability to show multiple copies so I can delete just one and keep the others for later tricks.

There is also a bug which prevents me deleting attachments from sent emails, which is why I need the multiple copies of the email with the blank attachment

Have the same problem. Not fixed in 10.8.2 either. Bummer. Can't understand why a new version has to break something that worked just fine!

I'm also looking for an answer to this one. Very annoying.

I discovered that if you transfer mail to an iCloud account, the webmail interface will show the duplicates as individual emails. Hope this helps.

This may not be feasible for everyone, but under 10.6, Mail does show the duplicates, and you can use the Applescript that's out there for removing duplicates. Depending on how many duplicates you have, it could take hours or days.

Same problem here.  I get need to get duplicate messages from several listserves (kids' schools)  The headers are different [school1] [school2]  etc and I need to see all of them and be able to reply to them separately.  Now I am missing 3 groups everytime a message comes out.

    this is really not good.

Found a solution in another thread. Works perfectly.

To disable automatic grouping of duplicate messages, quit Mail then run this command in Terminal:

defaults write com.apple.mail AlwaysShowDuplicates -bool true

To revert to the default setting, run this command:

defaults write com.apple.mail AlwaysShowDuplicates -bool false

or simply delete the setting altogether with this command:

         defaults delete com.apple.mail AlwaysShowDuplicates

If you want to see how Mail behaves with this setting enabled, but without modifying your preference file, start Mail from Terminal with this command:

         /Applications/Mail.app/Contents/MacOS/Mail -AlwaysShowDuplicates YES

Thank you! Just upgraded from Lion and when testing a mailing script after a server upgrade I thought the script wasn't working because I was not receiving the duplicate test emails. I couldn't find the place in Mac Mail to show all of the duplicates so I thought they weren't there. I was not looking forward to debugging the mailing script to see why it wasn't sending - so relieved to see that the emails were there and just hidden. The Terminal command did the trick.
