I, too, have this problem. Using brand new AppleTV, software v. 5.0.2, and MacBook Pro with Mountain Lion (purchased July 26, 2012) both on same Wi-Fi network. In Display section of System Preferences -

Airplay Mirroring: No Devices Detected
