how to delete routes from maps app

Since you can not save routes in the maps app, I fail to see the point of your question... There is nothing to delete.

Are you using the default map app or a third party app? Is there anything that you are trying to accomplish here? I'm just wondering on why someone would delete a route.

YES, routes ARE saved automatically (tap icon top lett to see them). This is a pain, as so many are once-only routes I'll never need again. I alrready have a dozen saved after a week. it's a good feature, but imagine how many I'll have saved in six months! I need to delete unwanted routes, Mr Cook! Thanks.

Tried to clean up recents?

Aha! So Clear Recent Searches ALSO clears the Routes. Thanks 🙂

Using Bookmark - Recent - Clear deletes all of the routes. Is there a way to select the ones you want to get rid of and keep the others? Thanks
