Speed up animation between Spaces

Hello,

I'm using OSX Mountain Lion. I usually work with the laptop closed, an external monitor, an apple bluetooth keyboard, and a magic trackpad. I'm a developer, so I usually have 3 full-screen'd terminal windows open along with a desktop. I love being able to quickly switch between the full screen'd apps using guestures (I have it set up for 3 finger swipe). However, when I upgraded from Lion to Mountain Lion, I found that this workflow was hindered significantly.

For one, it takes waaaay too long for the spaces swiping animation to complete. I've tried many workarounds floating about on the internet, but none seem to work on anything above Snow Leopard. Secondly, and the most annoying, my keyboard input is being captured on the previous screen until the spaces swiping animation is complete. This is incredibly annoying, as I end up typing wrong commands and closing things accidentally all the time. It's driving my crazy having to wait until the animation is complete. At least in Lion it captured my input in the new window during the long animation :/ .

Is there anything at all that I can do to fix this?

Thanks in advance,

- Jeff

I'm having the same problem. You gave a great description of it. What seems like an imperceptible increase in time to switch spaces has me typing into the wrong window and messing up my code.

Since upgrading to Mtn Lion, I have installed aluminum skins to Calendar and Contacts. I would try uninstalling this, but I forgot to back up the files that are modified. 😟 I also have NoSleep running, but that was installed before the upgrade, when space switching was faster.

A friend suggested running "Repair Disk Permission", but that didn't seem to change anything.

This is enough of an issue that I may go back to my Time Machine image I made before upgrading.

I have a MacBook Air 11", 8GB RAM, i7 processor.

I would also like to see a solution to this problem. Either a setting in the GUI to configure transition time, or just the name of the variable that needs to be edited in the terminal.

Note that the transition is much faster if you switch to a particular space using CTRL-1,2,3. Ideally, this is the speed I'd like to see with a swipe. Note also that if you swipe faster with your fingers, the transition speeds up. This is annoying, however. I just want it to transition quickly no matter what, for just a light finger swipe.
