It also won't let me click menu to go back, but my apple tv light flashes. What do I do now? more

Sep 12, 2012 2:53 PM in response to vazandrewby larayav,I have the same issue. My wireless router fried after a power outage, so I got a new one and created new network. When I try to start the appletv y gets stuck in date and time setting and cannot get to the settings menu. Apple remote (new, which I just buy thinking other one was broken) doesn't take me there.
Any ideas? thanks,

Sep 25, 2012 8:23 PM in response to ElmoSmuurfby mjcny123,I am having the same issue. Reset using the silver remote (pressing menu and down for 6+ seconds) does not work either. I know that the software on this particular 3rd gen AppleTV is a couple of updates behind.

Sep 25, 2012 8:30 PM in response to ElmoSmuurfby mjcny123,Aha! A bit more searching and I found the answer that just fixed it for me.
Press Menu and the Back arrow at the same time until a broken chain icon appears on the top left of the screen.
Let them go....
Press Menu and Right arrow (forward arrow) until a "fixed" or "whole" chain appears.
This enabled my apple tv to once again respond and get off the "setting time and date" screen.

We finally found a place to stay and all I wanted was my apple TV. I even had to go buy a new remote cause I lost the last one! Thank you for the light at the end of the tunnel. PURE GENIUS!
