32bit or 64bit iTunes Pros and Cons

Hi Guys

I've sort of come to this a little late so forgive me if this has been discussed before.

I have been using iTunes for years now and use it on my Mac Pro, Macbook pro, and now iPad. I have found out that two iTunes Apps/plugins. Synergy, and Plantronics volume logic were both broken with 64bit mode, but work perfectly well after changing my iTunes back to 32 bit mode.

My question is, is there any downside to using iTunes in 32bit mode? particularly with iTunes Store, Apple TV, iPad, or in fact general use.

I would be interested to know

🙂 Afraid I don't have an answer for you. But I'm interested in the question too.

One other context in which you might need to restart iTunes in 32-bit mode is when trying to play older video content. I spend a reasonable amount of time directing folks to the following document:

iTunes for Mac: Older media files may require iTunes to reopen in 32-bit mode

... So I'm curious to know if there's anything I need to give them an extra heads up about (re being in 32-mode).
