Can I get my iPhone 4 (not S) to forget words it learned from me?
I don't want all of them forgotten, just the misspellings it has learned.
It auto-corrects "something" to "somethig" for example.

This will reset the dictionary to its default word list, deleting everything you've added to it.
Thanks, but as I mentioned I do not want all of the learned words forgotten.
Earlier today I found some old forums saying there used to be a way, but that there no longer is? How could they not let us access the list to delete things???
The old forum said to keep typing the word and X-ing the unwanted suggestion, but it didn't work for me, and I then read that it only works on old phones/iOS.
When the words you don't want are displayed as correction, touch the small X next to the word. You'll have to do this several times for each word for it to be deleted from the dictionary. There has been no change in this process.
Thanks, but I did that 8 times in a row for correcting the word "something" and it didn't forget it still. :(
It also doesn't work for my phone remembering the word "te", cause it NEVER suggests that I write that, it just doesn't correct to "the" like it should.
Just found a much better solution!
Settings>General>Keyboard>Add new shortcut
Enter "something" as the phrase and "somethig" as the shortcut. Works like a charm and easy-peasy!
I also entered "the" as the phrase and "te" as the shortcut to fix that one.
Yay!
That "fix" is like painting over rotting portions of a water damaged wall. If your dictionary isn't responding properly to rejected substitutions, there corrupted corrupted data/settings. You need to restore the phone. Jailbroken?
I am running into the same issue and resting the keyboard does not fix the issue. Reset keyboard does absolutely nothing with my 4S iOS 6 phone. I wish there was a way to submit issues to apple without needing to pay
There are iOS changes that apparenty Apple stubbornly refuses to change, and actually editing the self-correct dictionary is one. Androids and Blackberrys will do it. All you can do is refuse the self-correct and wait on the Cupertino demi-god to deign to help you out.
