AppleID - How do I change the AppleID in iCloud?

Just delete the account & setup new with your new Apple ID.

How do you delete the old account on the iphone 5? It doesn't have a delete option.

does it delete the old apple ID in general or just from your deivce?

i have a lot of purchases from both mac apple store and iphone for school, if i delete the icloud account that USED TO WORK, I'll lose all of the purchases won't I?

i have tried everything people have suggested. I've backed up, restored, deleted account, tried a new account but the same thing keeps happening that my email and password aren't recognized..

Yeah, that's dumb advice. Don't delete your old ID if you're not sure you keep your purchases, warranties etc.

Will it delete all of my iCloud-using apps/information or change any other devices using that iCloud?

The problem is that it will not let you delete the old AppleID unless you have a password for it - and I don't.

I have a working password for my current AppleID. My previous AppleID email address changed, but iCloud held onto this old e-mail address for some unknown reason. The password does not work for that OLD account. iCloud asks for the password for this OLD account whenever I try to delete it or to disable 'find my iPad'.

There is a support bulletin that is supposed to address this situation;

iOS 7: If you're asked for the password to your previous Apple ID when signing out of iCloud

But this advice is flawed. It says; "

1. Change your Apple ID to the Apple ID you used previously. You shouldn't need to verify the email address.
2. Go to Settings > iCloud. Complete these steps only if the Find My [Device] setting is turned on:

The part about 'You shouldn't need to verify the email address' is NOT true. When I go into iCloud after changing my ID address back to the old address (which I can not access to verify) - it says 'ACCOUNT NOT VERIFIED Check your email... for instructions to verify this account.' All of the options in iCloud are grey'd out at this point.

EDIT: On a second attempt I was able to delete the iCloud account on my iPAD with this method. So the advice on the tech bulletin above worked for me after a second attempt.

Correction to my last post!

I was able to delete the iCloud account even though the e-mail address on the updated AppleID was not verified. So this tech bulletin worked after all on my second attempt.
