Early 2011 17" MacBook Pro 85W MagSafe Power Adapter

Is my Early 2011 17" MacBook Pro 85W MagSafe Power Adapter compatible with the MacBook Air 11" which uses a 45W MagSafe 2 Power Adapter?

Running the MacBook Air on the 85W adapter will cause no problems whatsoever.

Running the 17" MacBook pro on the 45W power adapter may cause some unusual behavior:

It may not get enough power to both charge and run at the same time. You may have to power off to recharge.

If you stress it while running with a low battery, it may slow down. This is because high-end MacBook Pros "borrow" from the battery, running on the full output of the power adapter PLUS a little more from the battery under heavy loads. When too little power is available (such as low battery) they may slow down a little.
