I am able to sync my ipod nano 5G with itunes and sync is completed. itunes shows the podcasts on the ipod nano, but when I look at the ipod there are no podcasts to play! Is it the flash memory that is defect? Anyone got an idea?

Have you tried resetting the iPod to see if that makes a difference? To do this, press and hold both the Select (Center) and Menu buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.
Otherwise, try unsyncing and resyncing all of your podcasts via the iPod's Podcasts configuration tab in iTunes.
