Look at iFixit.com. They have replacement fans (the correct ones) plus fully detailed instructions and toolsets to replace the fan. I also had/have a 4,1 2008 MBP who's one fan is failing. But I've gotten very good at disassebling the fan casing, removing the rotor, cleaning, oiling and reassembling it to get it to be whisper quiet. It's a great thing to have iStat Pro that tells me the RPM of each fan to make sure that it's running. But the next time it happens, I'm going to order a new replacement from iFixit. I think I've refurbished it about 3 times so far, that's probably enough.
